·         Plant and soil processes that make buffers work

·         Demonstration of groundwater nitrate nitrogen reduction in our

experimental buffers

·         Critical factors for buffer efficiency

·         What is an effective buffer width?

·         Establishing and managing a forested buffer

·         Buffer tradeoffs: land lost, crop shading, and pest refuge versus water quality improvement, restoration of fisheries and increased biodiversity.
