Dairy Teams Excel at National Level |
Dairy Conference is a national event where 4-Her’s attend workshops on dairy management techniques and career opportunities and meet with other individuals from the United States and Canada. The goal of the conference is to help youth develop leadership and group participation skills, learn more about the dairy industry and develop additional competence in special interest areas of the dairy industry. Those attending were Jennifer Devoe (Arlington), Kirk Damon (Bow), Galen Williams (Olympia), and Laura Odens (Ferndale).
The 4-H Quiz Bowl Team made a great showing by placing seventh in the national contest. Participants who worked hard to develop their knowledge and communication skills are tested on their knowledge of all aspects of dairy management. Our team was composed of Chet Iverson (Onalaska), Seth Snook (Ferndale), Ann Marie Magnochi (Carnation) and Tyler Sundstrom (Sedro Woolley).
The 4-H Dairy Judging Team made an equally impressive showing in the national contest by placing 13th overall. In the contest individuals judge 10 classes of dairy animals and give 5 sets of oral reasons. The team was composed of Jamie Schmid (Trout Lake), Josie Hansen (Stanwood), Kerri VanMersbergen (Lynden) and Amy Jemelka (Centralia). Individual honors go to Kerri who placed 23rd overall and Jamie who placed 31st.
