2005 - Capturing Phosphorus from Liquid Dairy Manure in the Form of Struvite
The WSU-Nutrient Management program currently (May 2005) has two funded research projects that are refining a process to remove phosphorus from liquid dairy manure that has been stored in manure lagoons or has been processed through an anaerobic digester. The product that is formed is called struvite, a complex of phosphorus-nitrogen-magnesium. It is granular in form and has good fertlizer replacement value.
