Guidance for WSU PPDEN Account Holders
Obtaining Access
To obtain access to this resource, visit the WSU PPDEN main page at: http://www.dddi.org/wsu/, and click on: "Request an Account" to create a user name and password. Once you have a user name and password, you can then access the network to submit digital samples at any time.
After you log into the system, you simply click on the " Submit a Sample" button located on the index at the upper left hand corner of the screen. You will then be asked a series of questions about the diseased plant, insect pest, or weed as you are walked through the process of submitting the sample. PPDEN is user friendly. As long as you have experience taking digital photos and loading them onto a computer, using PPDEN should be a straightforward process.
By default, every time an account holder submits a sample into PPDEN only the submitter and appropriate diagnostician(s) are able to access the sample. An account holder may elect to share access to a sample with all account holders in the WSU PPDEN System or keep the information private.
When using PPDEN as a diagnostic tool, take up-close and macroscopic photos of the signs and/or symptoms of the plant disease, or the specimen you need identified. Make sure to include a ruler or an object such as a penny that will allow evaluators to determine the scale of the sample. The higher the photo quality the better your chances the sample can be identified or diagnosed via PPDEN. For questions regarding the WSU PPDEN system, contact Norm Dart.
