Virtual Oomycete Demonstration Nursery

STATION 7

Station 7Water that runs onto your nursery site from surrounding waterways as well as off your site likely carries populations of Phytophthora and Pythium.  If areas of your nursery experience seasonal flooding from a nearby waterway one way to protect your site is to strategically place a small dike to block the flooding. The dike may help keep contaminated runoff from going directly into the surrounding watershed as well. Make sure to check with the Department of Ecology to determine what permits you may need before initiating any work along a body of water.
